Viola Faculty

Oliver Chang  

A native of Concord, MA, violist Oliver Chang performs with the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra and the Cape Ann Symphony Orchestra, along with collaborating with the Boston String Quartet, New England String Quartet, and the Amherst String Quartet throughout New England. He joined the Semiosis Quartet in 2014. He teaches violin and viola at the Wayland School Community Program, introductory strings at the Sudbury Valley New Horizons Music program, and maintains a private teaching studio in Framingham. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree at the Eastman School of Music, and his Master’s Degree and Performance Diploma at the Boston University School of Music. Previous teachers include Michelle LaCourse, George Taylor, Carol Rodland, and Lisa Suslowicz.

 





 

 

Chen Lin   

A member of the Boston String Quartet since 2005, Ms. Lin has performed in venues such as Carnegie Hall Weill Recital Hall, Boston Symphony Hall, Jordan Hall and Troy Music Hall. She has collaborated with Turtle Island Quartet, Mark O'Connor, Ryland Angel and Orla Fallon. Described by the Boston Globe as "exploring different ways of sparking musical interest", Ms. Lin's Quartet frenquently concertizes in the New England area, and has created its educational programs in collaboration with high school and college music departmenets throughout the U.S. With the Quartet, Ms. Lin was recently invited to perform at University of Florida. As an orchestra musician, Ms. Lin is currently a member of the Lexington Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Chamber Orchestra. She has toured in Japan with the Boston Chamber Orchestra and collaborated with the Kyushu Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Lin holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Boston University and a Master's degree from The Boston Conservatory. Her previous teachers include Teizo Yoshinaga, Roger Tapping and Michelle LaCourse. Ms. Lin is the manager and viola faculty of Youth & Muse Music Festival. She has taught in the Assai International String Festival at Millersville University in Pennsylvania, and instructed a viola masterclass at Idyllwild Arts Academy.
